We are taking the 1st step towards retirement - so sorry but

  • We will not be taking on New customers.
  • We will be depleting our stock of parts.
  • Certain parts will be on an-order-as-needed basis.
  • although we have been on call 24/7/365 since Jun 1983 we cannot continue to maintain that service. Once we hit the pillow the clock must stop.

P.R.D. Heating & Cooling LLC

In the 60's, 70's, 80's and early 90's we were able to install gas furnaces with pilot lights.  These furnaces have an Annual Fuel Useage Efficiency or AFUE rating of 70-75

In the 80's and 90's we were able to install furnaces without pilot lights which raised the installation cost an extra $200.  It saved the user 12 gallons a year and the furnaces have an AFUE rating of 80 - 82.

[It is impossible to manufacture or obtain a furnace with an AFUE rating in the mid to high 80's]

Since a certain date we were only able to install furnaces with AFUE ratings of 80 and higher.

We are able to install furnaces with an AFUE rating of 80 until 30 April 2013.

According to federal regulations on 1 May 2013, we are able only to install furnaces with an AFUE rating of 90+. (government delayed until ?)

The cost of the AFUE 90 furnace is twice the amount of the AFUE 80 furnace.

So we can expect that new furnace installations will double in cost on 1 May 2013.

These 90+ furnaces make acidic water and the line contain the acidic water must be protected from freezing or the furnace will not function.  If the furnace is close (inches not feet) to a drain, bathroom or washer/dryer area then it may have a quality installation.
